01Cookies and local storage
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser and sends back with each request. Local storage is a similar browser feature that keeps data on your device without sending it to our servers with every request.
Darkside Labs keeps its use of both to a minimum: we use only what is needed for the website to work and to remember your cart.
02What we use
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| sb-…-auth-token | Cookie (first-party, strictly necessary) | Keeps you signed in to your customer or staff account and secures account pages. Set only when you sign in. | Until you sign out or the session expires |
| dsl-cart | Local storage | Remembers the items in your cart and any coupon code you entered, so your cart survives page reloads. | Until you check out, clear your cart, or clear site data |
| Research-use acknowledgment | Local storage | Remembers that you acknowledged our research-use-only notice, so it isn't shown on every visit. | Until you clear site data |
Strictly necessary cookies
Our authentication provider (Supabase) sets a first-party session cookie when you sign in. It is essential for keeping you signed in and protecting account and order pages, and it cannot be switched off without breaking sign-in. Because these cookies are strictly necessary, they do not require consent.
Local storage
Your cart and research-use acknowledgment are stored only in your browser. They are not used to track you and are not shared with third parties. Your cart contents are sent to us only when you proceed to checkout.
03Third-party cookies & tracking
We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, retargeting, or analytics services that build profiles of you across websites.
When you pay, you are redirected to Stripe’s secure hosted checkout page. Stripe may set its own cookies on its domain for fraud prevention and to operate checkout; those are governed by Stripe’s own privacy and cookie policies.
If we introduce analytics or marketing technologies in the future, we will update this policy before doing so and, where required by law, ask for your consent first.
04How to control cookies and storage
- Browser settings. Most browsers let you view, block, and delete cookies and site data (usually under Settings → Privacy). Blocking the session cookie will prevent you from signing in.
- Clear site data. Clearing site data for our domain removes your cart and research-use acknowledgment from that browser.
- Sign out. Signing out of your account ends your session and removes the session cookie.
